April was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Her dance career started at Joe Michaels Dance Studio; her instructors were Joe and Dana Michaels as she danced alongside Mia Michaels. She also studied at Miami Conservatory with Thomas Armour and Robert Pike. April has danced with Momentum Dance Company under the direction of Delma Iles. She also studied at In Motion Dance Center where she then became a full time member of Freddick Bratcher Dance Company; she owes all she is as a dancer to Freddick Bratcher. She is an Alumni of Southwood, PAVAC, and the first graduating class of NWSA. She has received the Presidential Scholar from the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts (Young Arts). She has been a featured dancer in several commercials including: Love 94, Pepsi and also the Univision awards alongside Will Chirino. She has studied at Jacob’s Pillow on full scholarship with Ana Marie Forsythe and Milton Myers.

April had an apprenticeship with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago for a summer. Later, became a member of Danny Buraczeski-Jazzdance in Rhode Island. She has take classes at Steps, Broadway Dance Center and on scholarship at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. After, April became a member of Aliey II then a main Company member under the direction of Alvin Ailey then later, Judith Jamison. Her final year with the company Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson set a piece on her and Matthew Rushing (Heartstrings) that will remain to be her most favorite piece ever danced. After moving back home she taught at NWSA under the direction of Daniel Lewis. She is fully trained in Horton, Graham and Limon. She is certified with American College of Sports Medicine and Educating Hands, and now works as a Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist. Her biggest success has been her son and daughter J.J. and Taylor; she’s so very proud of them and their accomplishments. Her wish is that one day “old school” dance will merge with “new school” and it will be about the beauty and strength and not just the tricks.
